We had the privilege of being invited to the Sri Lanka Embassy in Tokyo. I had the opportunity to meet with the delegation from the Bank of Ceylon, who are keen on enhancing inward remittance to Sri Lanka from Japan. It was truly an honor to be a part of this important discussion.
During the gathering, the chairman of BOC, Ronald Perera, shared valuable insights about the benefits that Sri Lankans can enjoy by utilizing their platform. The meeting was attended by representatives from various associations, adding to the significance of the occasion.
In my speech, I highlighted the proposals we presented to the government with the aim of increasing official remittances in US dollars and promoting transparency in the duty structure. It was crucial to shed light on the government's response and the actions taken in relation to our suggestions.
I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an important dialogue and to play a part in shaping the future of remittance services between Japan and Sri Lanka. It is my hope that our collective efforts will lead to positive outcomes and improved financial opportunities for Sri Lankans.
