Message of the President

This is the message from the President of SLBCJ.

It is a great honor and privilege for me to serve as the President of the Sri Lankan Business Council of Japan (SLBCJ). Since its establishment in 2003, the SLBCJ has been dedicated to strengthening trade, investment, and tourism relations between Sri Lanka and Japan, while also supporting the growth and development of the Sri Lankan business community in Japan.
When I first became a member of the Sri Lankan Business Council of Japan, I was a 25-year-old young businessman beginning my professional journey. Through the Business Council, I was fortunate to gain many valuable experiences, particularly in organizing business events, cultural programs, and festivals that promote Sri Lanka in Japan.
Over the years, these experiences have greatly contributed to my personal and professional growth. Today, I am proud and grateful to say that I have been a member of the Council for more than 22 years.
Throughout this long journey, I have come to realize that the true strength of the Council lies in its people. Wherever we go and whatever we undertake, we are never alone. There are always experienced members who are willing to guide us, support us, and generously share their knowledge and expertise. Through the Council, I have also had the privilege of building many lasting friendships that have become an important part of this journey.
This spirit of friendship, mentorship, and cooperation is what makes the Sri Lankan Business Council of Japan truly special. It is my sincere hope to continue nurturing and strengthening this community for future generations of Sri Lankan entrepreneurs and professionals in Japan.
Over the years, with the valued support of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Tokyo and the strong commitment of our members, the SLBCJ has played an important role in connecting businesses and creating opportunities in various sectors such as Food & Beverages, Tea, Jewelry, Information Technology, and many other industries.
As we move forward, our goal is to further strengthen this foundation by encouraging collaboration, sharing knowledge, and creating new opportunities for both Sri Lankan and Japanese businesses. During this term, the SLBCJ will focus on organizing business forums, networking events, workshops, and promotional programs that highlight Sri Lanka’s diverse business potential while strengthening ties within the Sri Lankan community in Japan.
We also remain committed to supporting Japanese organizations interested in doing business with Sri Lanka, while guiding and assisting new entrepreneurs and professionals who are joining the Sri Lankan business community in Japan.
The SLBCJ will continue to work closely with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Tokyo and proudly support initiatives that promote Sri Lanka in Japan.
I would like to sincerely thank all our members and partners for their continued support. I look forward to working together with all of you to further strengthen the friendship and economic relations between Sri Lanka and Japan.
