Sri Lankan Business Council of Japan Celebrates 20th Anniversary and Launches Global Federation
Tokyo, Japan - October 8th, 2023 — The Sri Lankan Business Council of Japan (SLBCJ) marked its 20th anniversary on October 9th, 2023, with a grand celebration featuring a distinguished lineup of VIP guests. This momentous event will witness the convergence of eminent figures from both Japan and Sri Lanka, underlining the strong ties between the two nations.
The esteemed guest list includes Yamaguchi Susumu, Member of the House of Representatives of Japan, Members of Parliament from Sri Lanka, such as Honorable Dilum Amunugama, State Minister of the Ministry of Investment Promotion of Sri Lanka, and Honorable Manusha Nanayakkara, the Minister of Labor and Employment, alongside numerous other distinguished personalities.
Highlighting the evening's significance is the unveiling of the Global Federation of Sri Lankan Business Councils (GFSLBC). Conceived and spearheaded by Mr. Sajeev Rajaputhra, the International Director of SLBCJ, and driven by the visionary leadership of Mr. Jagath Ramanayake, President of SLBCJ, whose dream was to commemorate the 20th Anniversary with a groundbreaking initiative, the Council initiated an ambitious mission. With the unwavering support of Mr. Jitendra Samarawickrama, Treasurer of SLBCJ, and other Council members, they embarked on the ambitious task of uniting Sri Lankan business councils worldwide, forging a cohesive global network.
This project received steadfast support from distinguished figures within the government, including His Excellency President Ranil Wickramasinghe, the President of Sri Lanka who met with the Council in both Sri Lanka and Japan regarding the project; His Excellency E. Rodney M. Perera, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan; and Honorable Dilum Amunugama, the State Minister of Investment and Promotion in Sri Lanka. This innovative initiative aims to unite organizations such as the Business Council of Japan, America, Canada, U.K., Dubai & Northern Emirates, Australia, New Zealand and many more, under a single umbrella organization, the GFSLBC. Even prior to the launch on the 9th of October, 2023 the member councils of the GFSLBC already represent 12 countries.
The GFSLBC will serve as a unified force of Sri Lankan business leaders worldwide, fostering collaboration and support among its members. By sharing networks, connections, resources, knowledge, and expertise, this global unit will empower Sri Lankan entrepreneurs on a global scale. This unified approach will play a pivotal role in promoting trade, investments, and tourism for Sri Lanka, further enriching the nation's economic landscape.
